SONY PLAYSTATION II
Sony's Playstation II video game system beats personal computers
and even workstations in graphics power, yet sells for less than $400.
The awesome performance is based on the following chips:
- 128-bit RISC 300 mhz processor capable of 6.2 billion floating
point >operations / sec.
- Graphics Synthesizer capable of executing 66 million polygons
per sec at 150 mhz.
The Playstation II is powerful enough tp provide Internet access
and other functions. EMI shielding is critical due to the high performance
of the main chip set and due to the 50W of power consumption, a complex
thermal management system is employed.
