Hughes Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS)

The Hughes Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) was first launched in 1994 and quickly became the fastest selling consumer electronics product in history. DirecPC soon followed which offered both TV and PC satellite signals.

In essence, the system uses two LNB (Low noise block downconverters) - one for satellite signals, the other for the DirecPC signals.  The LNB consists of a teflon board assembly housed in a metal box.

Future Teardown reports will cover the following products:

- Seiko Raputer Wristwatch Computer

- Nokia 8810 GSM Telephone

- Sony GRDVX Camcorder
